INFINITY JSA: O-Yoroi Kidobutai

Image
O-YOROI KIDOBUTAI So my JSA are nearly done. I left this big bad boy TAG to the end so that I could hone my Infinity painting skills beforehand and apply my best efforts on this centrepiece model.  The model itself is pretty cool and has aged fairly well but could probably do with an update. That said I wanted to get some more action in the pose and did some minor converting which involved re-sculpting and bending the arms a bit.  For the paint job I went all out and applied lots of free hand and battle damage to make use of all the large flat panels and add weight to this imposing mech.  It took a while and a bit of experimenting to apply the Konoe colour scheme. But I had already mapped out ideas on the Domaru and Daiyokai, not to mention the other line troops also beforehand.  It was quite a task to get this mini finished and took a good solid week of painting to do. One day I'll get around to converting and painting the bootleg O-Yoroi, but it will b...

INFINITY JSA: Aragoto Senkenbutai

ARAGOTO SENKENBUTAI Feel the need for speed?  These guys are just awesome models and iconic for JSA.  Red bikes definitely seem like an homage to Kanada's bike Shontaro in Akira , which is in itself an iconic anime image.  For this reason I stuck pretty closely to the studio colours. I couldn't imagine JSA without Asuka Kisaragi  so I resurrected her.  Converting her to fit the new bikes was relatively simple and just required building a "tactical" footpath.  I suppose I can proxy her for the Kuroshi Rider or any other Aragoto really. INFINITY JSA: Yojimbo, Sword for Hire

Image
YOJIMBO, SWORD FOR HIRE One of my favorite miniatures in the Infinity range.  I love this homage to Akira Kurosawa's famous film .  To think that a Toshiro Mifune character features twice in one army  is a testament to his portrayal of the iconic and archetypal samurai.  Yojimbo is certainly at the opposite spectrum of samurai archetype than Musashi at face value, but each equally portrays and simultaneously critiques the bushido way.  I spent a lot of time researching real motorbike colours in order to personalise my version of the Infinity Yojimbo.  Sanjuro maybe closer to 40 but he is a timeless character and I hope I have honoured his visage faithfully in my rendition.
