INFINITY JSA: Tanko Zensenbutai

TANKO ZENSENBUTAI
Bushi upstarts! These guys caused a bit of controversy when they came out as people didn't like the hats. I for one think they are pretty cool and bring to the JSA traditional Japanese cultural aesthetics in sci-fi form. Low ranked samurai commonly wore jingasa (war/camp hat) on the road to keep the sun off. They are quite appropriate for the Tanko really, given their background as low born bushi. Its just funny how now days cultural aesthetics don't much include hats of any culture as being cool or macho.
I didn't stray too far from the studio colours as I wanted them to stand out from the Domaru since they would not be from the same unit. Red is such a forgiving color to paint so they were a pleasure to finish and I have to say that it was doing these guys that made me feel like I could paint any Infinity model going forward. The main changes I made to the studio schemes was to alter the markings and hat colours. For the hats I researched real jingasas for inspiration.
